Help Centre
Quick answers to the questions we hear most. If you cannot find what you need here, the Contact page is the next step.
Getting started
How do I make an invoice? Open the invoice generator. Fill in your business details, your client's details and the items, then check the preview. Press Download PDF to save it or Print to print it. The totals, tax and balance due are worked out for you as you type.
Do I need an account? No. You can create and download as many documents as you like without one. An account only adds the option to save invoices online so you can open them on another device.
Is it really free? Yes. The site is supported by advertising, and we do not put a watermark on your documents.
Working with invoices
How do I add my logo? In the "Company details" section, tap "Upload logo" and choose a PNG, JPG or WebP picture. Large pictures are resized automatically. You can remove it with the "Remove logo" button next to it.
How do I add tax or a discount? Each item has its own Tax % and Disc % boxes, and there is a discount box for the whole invoice. Totals update straight away. Tax rates are entered by you, so check them against the rules where you work.
Can I change the currency? Yes. Pick one from the Currency list in the "Invoice information" section. Amounts in the preview and PDF follow it.
How do I record a deposit or part payment? Enter it in the "Amount paid" box. The balance due appears on the invoice.
How do I turn an invoice into a credit note or a proforma invoice? Change the Title box to the name you need, and explain the purpose in the notes.
How do I email an invoice to my client? Type your client's email address in the "Client details" section, fill in the invoice, then tap "Email invoice" above the preview. Your email app opens with the client's address, the subject and the whole invoice (items, totals, payment details) already written in the message. Just press Send. If you want the PDF attached too, tap "Download PDF" and attach it. If your email app does not open, tap "Copy email text" in the green box and paste it into a new email.
Dashboard, invoices, clients and profile
What do the four menu options do? After you sign in, a second menu bar appears. Dashboard shows how much you have invoiced, been paid and are owed, with your overdue invoices and top clients. Invoices lists every invoice you saved to your account, where you can search, open, mark as sent or paid, and delete. Clients keeps the people you bill, so you do not retype their details. Profile keeps your company details, logo and bank account details.
How do I fill my company details automatically? Save your details once under Profile. When you create an invoice, tick "Use my profile data" at the top of Company details, and your name, address, logo, bank details, notes, currency and payment terms fill in. Leave it unticked to type them by hand.
How do I pick a saved client? Add the client under Clients, or type their details on an invoice and tap "Save this client for next time". Then choose them from "Select Client" at the top of Client details, and their name, address, email and phone fill in. Leave it on "Select Client" to type a new client by hand.
Saving and finding your work
Where are my invoices saved? When you press "Save invoice", the invoice is kept in your browser, and you can reopen it from History. If you are signed in and press "Save to account", it is also stored in your account.
My saved invoices have disappeared. They were kept in your browser, and clearing browsing data, private mode or a different device will hide them. Next time, use "Export backup" in History and keep the file. You can bring it back with "Import backup".
How do I mark an invoice as paid? Open History, and use "Mark paid" or "Record payment" next to the invoice.
Accounts
How do I sign up? Press Sign up in the top bar, enter your email address and a password of at least eight characters.
I forgot my password. We do not send automatic reset emails at the moment. Contact us from your registered address and we will help where we can.
How do I delete my account? Email us from the address you signed up with and ask us to delete it. Your account and saved invoices will be removed.
PDFs and printing
The PDF does not download. Some browsers block downloads, especially inside other apps. Try opening the site directly in Chrome or Safari. As an alternative, press Print and choose "Save as PDF".
The printout is cut off or has extra margins. In the print window, set the scale to 100% and the paper size to match the one chosen on the page (A4 or Letter).
Calculators and other tools
How are results calculated? Each calculator page shows its formula and a worked explanation under the form, and the FAQs answer the questions people ask most.
Why does a barcode say it is not valid? The number or text does not fit the type you chose. EAN-13 needs 12 or 13 digits, and UPC-A needs 11 or 12.
Is the shipping label accepted by carriers? It is a general-purpose label. Many carriers require labels created in their own systems, so check with yours.
How do I make a QR code? Open the QR Code Generator, choose what the code should hold (a link, Wi-Fi details, an email, a phone number, a text message or a contact card), and download it as PNG or SVG. Test it with your phone camera before you print it.
How do I scan a barcode or QR code? Open the Barcode Reader, tap "Scan with camera" and point at the code, or upload a photo that contains one. Scanned codes can be added to a list with quantities and exported as CSV. The camera needs permission and a secure (https) page.
Using the site on a phone or laptop
The site adjusts to the size of your screen. On a phone or small tablet, the form and preview are stacked one above the other. If everything looks tiny, check that your browser is not set to "Desktop site". On a wide laptop screen, the invoice form and preview sit side by side. Use the Tools menu in the top bar to reach any tool, and the language button to change language.
Troubleshooting
A page is blank or a button does nothing. Reload the page, or try another browser. Make sure JavaScript is enabled and that no extension is blocking the page.
The language did not change. Translation needs an internet connection and relies on Google's service. Some browsers or extensions block it. Choose English to go back to the original.
I cannot sign in. Check your email address for typos, and note that there is a limit on repeated attempts. Wait fifteen minutes and try again.
Privacy
Documents you create stay in your browser unless you choose to save them to an account. See the Privacy Policy for details.
